Production[edit | edit source]
The Orphen series began when author Yoshinobu Akita and illustrator Yuuya Kusaka created the Wayward Journey series of Light Novels. It consists of at least 6 novels, all with multiple parts that were released between 1994–2003. They were first published by Fujimi Shobo and are published in English by J-Novel Club.
Two years after the beginning of the main novel series, Yoshinobu Akita created a spin-off series called Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Reckless Time (無謀編, Majutsushi Orphen Mubouhen)," which is a collection of side-stories that depicted more light-hearted and comedic adventures that took place during Orphen's journey. The novel series spanned 13 volumes between 1996–2003, which were published the same way as the first series.
